Musical Carpet. Topography of Sound for Bodies in Motion is an interactive and habitable sound installation that transforms the visitor's body into a compositional instrument.

The work's structure consists of a large, soft, yellow-green-purple carpet, modeled in bumps and valleys, covering the entire floor and part of the walls of the exhibition room. It is configured as a hilly, sonic landscape to be traversed and inhabited, with surfaces on a human and child-scale, ideal for spontaneous play and bodily exploration.

Pressure sensors are integrated into the carpet, activating different sounds when stepped on, touched, or brushed. Some sound points are suggested by subtle color variations, while others remain hidden, entrusted to free exploration, spontaneous movement, and error. Each gesture—walking, running, rolling, jumping—generates an acoustic event processed in real time by a central system, giving rise to a unique and unrepeatable composition.

Music is not simply listened to, but produced by moving through the work, generated by the interactions of one or more bodies in space. Families, individuals, couples, and groups collectively contribute to the creation of an ephemeral and temporary soundscape, where the playful and mysterious element of the installation guides the experience.

At the end of the experience, limited in time and number of participants, you can keep an audio recording of your composition: a track that captures the passage of the body through sound and the sound through memory. Recording is optional and may or may not be monetized.
