Clay monotype on paper, glossy paper and indelible black, one piece.
"Pass, Present, Future" was born during the project "Capillari del Sud" developed during the initiative "Thessaloniki Project" that includes workshops lasting three months written and designed for women guests in the refugee camp of Diavata in Greece. From the meetings arise three distinct works that, with different methodologies and techniques, deal with central themes such as: the reconquest of a lost intimate space, self-care and the ability to return to desire. "Self Space", "Pass, Present, Future" and "Shared Village" testify to the individuality of each workshop participant, moving away from a stereotypical depiction linked to the figure of the refugee.
The large tapestry show and reworks past and present experiences, stimulating, through its creation, the ability to return to desire and, therefore, to be able to visualize a future for themselves and their families. This is the intent of the various workshop phases that gave birth to the work "Pass, Present, Future."
1) Why clay?
2) Why monotype?
1) "...Clay has a strong communicative capacity and its use lends itself as a vehicle for visual stories as well as being a source of pleasant tactile sensations due to its softness and ease of manipulation."
2) "The use of liquid clay allowed to capture the sensations of the person who performs the gesture, leaving the sign that is a trace of it. The monotype then becomes the print that show the sign of the emotional trace of the person making the gesture. It fixes the emotion of a here and now in a sign that represents the graphic answer to questions such as: how do I feel in this moment? Where am I?…"
"Thessaloniki Project" è la prima iniziativa attuata dal collettivo artistico "Wild Art Project", formatosi nel 2019 da Samantha Vichi, Olga Sperduti e Margherita Menghini.
