Field clay roots and natural elements.
"Connections is a solitary action that dig into the intimacy of my personal history and reflects on the connection between nature, man and culture. By scrupulously observing the countryside belonging to the parental home, i generated several phases of work to construct a new extra-verbal communicative code. I used the sculptural material as a symbol or an alphabet in an attempt to generate new awareness and a connection to both the land and family ties, the latter deeply connected to the working of the land of the fields as I come from a farming family for generations.”
The lock down of the COVID-19 emergency period, generated a closer view of the environment experienced during the quarantine. The perceived waiting time took precedence over the hectic and fast-paced schedules typical of today's society, generating slow and punctuated days. During this period, the attention was focused on nature and its changes, on the earth of the fields and the traces left on it, on the roots and seeds of the soil, on the earthen nests of bees hidden inside the fire wood found cooked in the fireplace following combustion. The careful and detailed observation of the textures and shapes of the collected pieces was synthesized into graphic signs, building a new shared grammar between man and nature. The latter have been the stimulus for the creation of sculptures made with clay from the fields of the lands surrounding the perimeter of the house which, interacting with the natural elements, create a plastic/visual dialogue between man and nature, re-establishing a strong connection with the homeland, that of the Tuscan Maremma.
