This installation was born from a residence held in China, in Fuping. The first process of study focused on terracotta warriors not only as a monumental work but as a scenic palimpsest and model of repetition, declining this concept to the social environment encountered, in the relationship between technology and manual work, balancing the joy of archaeological discovery and the celebratory moment of its display.
Studying the positioning of the statues that seem to germinate from the ground in perfect orderly rows, giving a scenically tragic sense to the environment, dwelling on the lines of force, similar for each statue but different for torsion or expressiveness.
The interruption of the lines is given by the planes that naturally form the surface, and by the cracks that over time have designed a sort of natural and incisive decoration on the pieces.
"Translating everything into two-dimensional lines drawn on the projected shadow of a statue model, I have reached the forms that describe my seven soldiers. The choice of white color so as to outline the shadows with which we usually confront and binds to the support in old brick furnace dark gray, ring of
stylistic conjunction between the archaeological discovery and the perfectly finished statues. The installation of the works is made in a narrow and long rectangular room, totally black as an archaeological excavation, designed on the ground by a crack of light."
- Stoneware, white engobe, refractory bricks, neon bars
