Donna 2023

The version created in 2023 of the cycle of works Donna, four square panels arranged vertically like a stele, a powerful warning on a gender issue, often tragically, always relevant. The design rigor, the compositional essentiality of the semicircles in a square, the absence of the totally desaturated color down to just white-black-grey and the cutter-tip execution make the work almost conceptual. An unexpected flicker comes to disturb the stability of the ordered surfaces and forces the harshness of communication in a composed manner, they are the twisted white stripes with sinusoidal motion, carriers of sentences by women and men about women, as if their silent words were screwed into space, claiming the right portion. The theme of women is addressed by imposing a reflection on communication. The affinity with the recent scientific discovery of magnetic waves called fusillo by a Venetian physicist is surprising, because by imparting a sinusoidal pattern that twists multiple waves, the possibilities of communication channels are multiplied. The result of translating the severe harmonies of geometry and a meticulous procedural methodology into a poetic image was thus achieved.

Four square panels painted with a roller with acrylic colours: black, dark and light grey, white - four semicircles of white cardboard glued - strips of white cardboard printed with phrases, twisted with sinusoidal motion and glued to the ends on two sides of the four square panels. All the panels are inserted into wooden strips which also become a frame.
