Vortice di Ruggine – Memories of Time is a digitally conceived artwork of strong symbolic and emotional resonance, where abstraction becomes a tool for introspection rather than pure formal experimentation.

The vortex does not originate as a visual gesture, but as an internal phenomenon: invisible movements, emotional currents that take shape within the body before emerging on the surface of the image. The artist translates these primal energies into a circular structure that echoes both natural dynamics and psychological motion, turning the artwork into a threshold between inner experience and perception.

The rust-toned palette — warm, dense, and tactile — interacts with luminous openings and surrounding shades of blue, creating a continuous tension between time and rebirth, erosion and light. Rust is not presented as decay, but as layered memory: a trace of passage, transformation, and lived experience. At the center, an opening toward the sky introduces an unexpected breath, suggesting expansion rather than closure — a passage rather than a boundary.

This work belongs to a broader artistic exploration of the stages of love, focusing specifically on the phase of falling in love: when everything is discovery, intensity, emotional acceleration. The vibrant colors, subtly tempered by depth and temporal patina, convey the euphoria of beginnings — the sensation of being drawn into something larger than oneself, where beauty and vulnerability coexist.

The metal print medium enhances the dialogue between materiality and immateriality. Its reflective surface captures and refracts light, allowing the artwork to shift according to space and viewer, reinforcing its dynamic and experiential nature.

Vortice di Ruggine does not ask to be merely observed, but to be entered. It functions as an open emotional map — a sensory experience that invites viewers to recognize their own inner movements, transforming a personal feeling into a shared, universal condition.
Through an integrated QR code, the static artwork expands into a dynamic and immersive dimension. The scan activates a generative video, created in collaboration with artificial intelligence, where the vortex comes to life and becomes a narrative space. The viewer is drawn into the artist’s surreal universe: here, a kingfisher — symbol of vision, precision, and renewal — moves through the flow and builds its nest within the heart of the vortex. The artwork thus evolves into a living ecosystem, where nature, technology, and emotion converge, dissolving the boundaries between image, time, and storytelling.
The artwork is developed through a complex and layered process that combines artistic vision with artificial intelligence tools. Both the image and the video are not the result of a single automated generation, but emerge through multiple stages, different AI software, and an extensive process of experimentation, involving countless trials, selections, adjustments, and refinements.

The artist uses AI as an extension of her creative thinking, guiding the process toward an image that already exists clearly within her mind. Each phase — from the initial visual construction to the definition of color and spatial depth, and finally to animation — is shaped by intentional decisions, continuously modifying parameters, exploring variations, and discarding outcomes that do not align with the original vision.

The final work is the result of a conscious collaboration between human sensibility and technology, where artificial intelligence functions as a tool of translation rather than substitution. The artwork maintains a strong authorial imprint, transforming a mental image into a coherent visual and dynamic form that fully belongs to the artist’s poetic universe.
