Alberto Magri · Il disegno è la mia voce (personal exhibition, Palazzo Gregoris, Sacile, 2023)
Mixed media on paperDrawings are for Alberto Magri a form of spontaneous expression, which spreads out on paper with the same naturalness with which others say words.
If these drawings have so far given life to books it is because they tell stories, and the sheets that compose them need to be held together... by a binding or, as happens now, in the space of an exhibition.
On the black pages, placed next to the walls, the figures that at the time converged in the volumes Pictor modernus (2010), Menocchio (2016), That jungle of my garden (2018), La casa del Pordenone (2019), Tethyshadros (2021) follow one another. ). They are completed drawings, but also studies, notes and sketches, which restore the dimension of a work in which the image settles gradually, finding its stability in the limited duration of the graphic reflection.
The same applies, even more so, to the pictorial works of Alberto Magri that complete the exhibition, in which the artist's horizon opens up to the sacred dimension and social problems.
The Face of the crucified Christ placed outside, between the loggias of Palazzo Gregoris, tells a more important story than the others, in dilated dimensions, but it does so according to the same criteria of expressive honesty that allow a robin to blend its wings in the fragment of nature drawn on a piece of paper.
