Sounds of doubt

Sounds of Doubts were a series of workshop and seminars between 2018/2020 where three groups of participants took part in the soundscape experiment; each group from a different Nordic country Iceland, Faroe Islands and Greenland . Their behavior was observed by introducing them to different roles and circumstances, either staged or real. The environment proposed created the opportunity to examine how the inception of natural and cultural milieu influence the participants’ experience. Different scenarios were recorded, each of them featuring a certain national-image and role. The video and sound recordings from workshops were used for further analyses and elaborations for the final installation.
During the development of the project, national languages and the creative functions of memories were elaborate with musical and visual means. The research was done in collaboration with the Icelandic Marine and Freshwater Institute, Hafrannsoknarstofnun-Sea Research institute of Iceland which prompt further the dialogue within the frame of the sea environment between the 3 countries. Specific locations from the sea bottom were chosen following the research done between Iceland, Greenland, Faræ-Islands, and the Danish coast line. The inquiry was developed around the deepest locations on the sea bottom to emulate and eventually re-discover, by which means unseen natural as geographical similarities or diversities are featuring our culture and social background. The technical result was the elaboration of diversified 3D printing models of these areas, while one was developed in a full-size sculpture where the marine terrain of Skerjadjúp the sea bottom in front of the familiar Vatnajökull glacier in the south of Iceland was mixed with information from the music spectrogram of the Icelandic Hymn.
Documentation from the workshop hosted between 2018-20 where used to elaborate a video synopsis where the idea of a sound journey was amplified throughout the footage from the excursion of a space shuttle going nowhere; during the opening underlining the merging of sound and visual elements there was a microphone perceiving the noise created from people observing the installation simultaneously analyzed in and projected on the wall as a colored spectrogram
My practice is often based on documentation and seminars where the cores are set to gather visual material and on-site-specific surveys, helping to generate and understand portrayals of local peculiarities and issues. Having engaged subjects as diverse as for my latest work photography Projects: E-scapland and  Unseen struggles shown at Kunstverein - Plushow Mecklenburg in July, my works often reproduce familiar visual signs, arranging them into layered conceptual pieces, inviting the viewer to move into suggestive space of speculation.
Since the inception of my career, I´ve been grounding my practice by given information about human potential and diversities as well as looking towards stereotypes within differentiated communities and organizations.
My vision takes often a critical viewpoint on social and political issues, where I discuss ideologies and stereotyped forms of thinking, rather than giving outfitted answers. I believe my strength relies upon the communicative approach whether in small workshops or extended on-site documentative practices. The delivering of information on emphatic processes enables me to engage with matters authentically promoting the necessary ground for self-determined practices to emerge, and to gain the necessary freedom of learning from experiments.
In my practice I aim to discuss how social rules are staged from autocratic policies, broadening ways of endured resistance inside groups, and disregarding the notions of people’s political and social rights. Alongside technical and theoretical approaches, I believe the every day and the ordinary be a relevant platform to be deepened, allowing imaginative ways of subjectivities to emerge.
I believe my practice contributes to creating open platforms of dialogues, addressing meanings of social codifications and and evolving through an understanding of valuable ways of questioning the social territory.
