The focus of the current research is on the observation of the landscape understood as a dense dialogue with what can be defined as a place of confrontation between man and the surrounding world. Severino considers the landscape as a wide representative and imaginative segment. In his latest works, the presence of a more ethereal and rarefied, sometimes muffled, image of landscape is more and more evident. The sensation that can be felt in every work is of a gradual tonal change, marked by the succession of new chromatic gradients that interpose themselves one on the other, thus forming more perceptive levels. New spatialisms, new chromatic flashes always in the perspective of a strongly informal language. The latest works are defined by the author as "color perspectives", in relation to the variation of the gradients of things because of their distance. There are no explicit references to places, but infinite perceptions of distances, thin shadows that gradually dissolve, lose their boundaries and become open and contemplative spaces with a silent and enigmatic aspect. Luminous, nocturnal and nebulous compositions. Large portions of landscape, fields of color and vivid pictorial materiality. The element of demarcation line slowly loses its body to become an element of connection that moves backwards to give way to changes and color variations. In the material and two-dimensional element, the corporeal and monumental aspect of painting predominates.
