Golden handcuffs 30x60 cm
The handcuffs, the first symbol of imprisonment, branch off into a crucifix which, despite being a notoriously sacred image and deeply referring to Catholic worship, is not so far removed from any weapon, which can kill, which can imprison.
The artist, who grew up in a Catholic family and social context, believes that religion in general and the one in which he lived in particular is a golden prison. The fable of a "sinless" life, in exchange for a glorious death and an afterlife among the angels, encloses men in apparent freedom.
