The work expresses an atavistic hunger for energy. Submitted in 2025 to the Arte - Cairo Editore Award in the photography category, it was selected as one of the 25 entries to be published.
The visual project “Change“ focuses on environmental issues, the impact of climate on people and the small but important actions that everyone can take. The complete project consists of 12 photographs, 1 triptych and 2 installations and was shown to the public for the first time at Paratissima 19th edition, during the Turin Art Week 2023
Matteo Cervone is back to portray a cross-section of society through his illuminated little men who, from their high vantage point, observe the busy pace of humanity and its effects on the environment.
Droughts, floods and tornadoes give voice to a planet that does not seem to be bending to the needs of its inhabitants, namely to the relentless voracity for energy and resources that, though increasingly available, still never seem to be enough.
Change is a wish for a change in everyone’s habits, a conscious choice for our own and global well-being.
