This work is the result of an artistic experiment that tells the story of a life. In addition to my passion for painting, I create tailor-made clothes, especially for myself and my family. I am fascinated by the high-quality fabrics produced in Como, such as silk, cotton, wool, and jersey. To fully represent my identity, I began including fabric fragments in my paintings to depict lived experiences.
Every piece of this work is a fragment of my personal story. Starting from the center and arriving at the end of the round, the memories that each fragment contains emerge. Many of them are from the fabrics of clothes I have worn that are now out of use. Some were my mother's clothes, others belonged to my daughter. In this way, I created an almost autobiographical narrative.
As I cut out and applied the fragments one by one, I discovered the meditative effect of this technique. It's relaxing in just the right amount, with a sequence of repetitive movements over time, bringing a serenity and a feeling of peace that I could almost describe as therapeutic.
It's like a meditation on color, a pleasure that involves the senses and the mind. This work is a unique combination of mixed media, in which acrylic colors are mixed with fragments of silk, cotton, and wool, cut by hand, and applied to an MDF panel sealed with epoxy resin. A unique work that is much more than a simple artistic creation; it's a piece of my heart and experiences captured in a work of art.
