Homo Bulla is an interactive installation comprised of a collection of hair-covered spheres and a series of video works. Meant to be moved and manipulated by the viewer, the balls invite gestures of play. The title Homo Bulla however, refers to a trope within vanitas painting, man is a bubble, which invokes questions about the passage of time and the futility of the material world.

The video series draws on three common objects of play, the ball, the stick and the rope. Through the repeated actions of bouncing, swinging and snapping, the objects pass from playful to more ambiguous forms of threat or danger.
