Made of papier-mâché, the sculpture portrays Omran Daqneesh, the Syrian child extracted and rescued from the rubble of his home, struck during the bombing in Aleppo in 2016. The photograph of the little Omran petrified with terror went around the world, transforming that dirty child of lime and blood in the Syrian horror symbol.
