“Lavoro stagionale con l’aiuto del sole” is part of Pluriball which is the final project of CAMPO22, the course of studies and curatorial practices promoted by Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo with the support of the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art. The installation is the result of frequenting and collaborating with some bee colonies, immersed in the Bolognese countryside, and with the beekeeping technician Sergio Albertazzi. It consists of two silents and a two-channel 4K video lasting 3'39.

The idea for the work was born from a reflection on the concept of error which, about my artistic research, often concerned the choice of material to use. I have always wanted to work with an organic material but its "unmanageability" has limited my experimentation; until I started this project and the subsequent collaboration with Sergio Albertazzi.
Getting to bees and propolis. I discovered that bees produce and use propolis to heal, as a substance aimed at "repairing" the error; it is used to seal the openings, to clean the cells after the larvae have hatched, and to mummify large intruders (mice, lizards, death's head moths) in the hive, thus avoiding the spread of bacteria.
Here I found another great analogy with my research: the exuvia.
The fact that bees use propolis by creating ecdysis further consolidated the decision to create a work in collaboration with them. Between June and July 2022 we inserted pieces of fabric into the hives.
The bees immediately began to "heal" the stranger.
The tissues were shredded and covered in wax (wax mixed with dead bee body parts) and propolis. Seasonal work with the help of the sun was therefore born.
After having recovered the various parts of the fabric, I assembled them, sewed, and worked with the parts of wax and propolis that we had obtained in addition, until they formed an exuvia divided into two parts, and exposed with pins on two plexiglass panels alveolar, hanging vertically.
