The homely warmth that is sometimes lost is instead rediscovered and rendered with brightness and transparency by the work of Michela Baldi.
With the Unfinished, the artist depicts a blanket reminiscent of the one made by her mother when she was a child. The work is also inspired by the consideration of the fact that migrants, before embarking on long crossings into the unknown, choose to bring with them a memory of the past. The blanket thus becomes for the artist the object that more than anything refers to the idea of "home", as a refuge from external dangers. Even after moving house several times this is in fact able to transmit and bring with it a sense of security, representing a direct reminiscence of loved ones. In its incompleteness it offers instead a prospect of completion, which can only take place after future experiences.
