LA DISTRUZIONE DI SODOMA

Sodoma represents the destruction of the biblical city of Sodoma, an abstract transposition of the biblical event. The red in the middle stands as the fire burning the city down, the yellow represent the fire rain sent by God and the black stripes down below bent towards the outside of the canvas represent the impure souls trying to escape the destruction in vain. Among those stripes some are "stained" with white, representing Lot, main character of the biblical event, with his daughters. Wanting to make a comparison with The Great Flood we can see in the high up some ultramarine blue representing the purifying rain side by side with the purifying fire.
