A 50s Italian doll turned into a cyber deity coming from the future. More photos here https://tommasofagioli.com/projects/sophia/

Inspired by Italian sacred art, SOPHI@ is a 60 cm tall 1950s Italian doll, half of whose body has been covered with microchip fragments to represent the transformation process into a post-biological, post-gender, hyper-connected entity, a kind of cybernetic deity from the future.

SOPHI@ is a hybrid creature made of biology and information, in its gradual process of dematerialization; an allegorical installation/sculpture that preludes our cosmic destiny as an augmented interplanetary species.

The doll's epidermal surface, partially covered with microchip fragments, symbolizes an exchange surface between the human and technological worlds. This fusion of biological tissues and electronic components reflects on sensory communication and the transmission of experiences and connections in a context where an ever-evolving identity is capable of moving between the natural and the artificial, between traditional reality and digital multiverses.
