The work "The wall" was created with a technique I came up with during the lockdown, using the roll of canvas as a base directly on the wall, without the wooden support frame. I sewed two "pockets" at the top and bottom, where a curtain rod and a counterweight strip are inserted. The technique is rudimentary, similar to hanging a curtain, and painting with oil paint directly on the wall proved to be particularly challenging... the lack of tension of normal canvas required a lot of practice and adjustments. The effect captures the curiosity and gaze of the audience, who often wonder what material was used. The ease of transport of the work facilitates the life of the artist and that of those who have to install. Details that are often underestimated in favor of the strange idea that the artist must suffer at any cost. With this technique, 3 other works were created, of which this one is 3 meters long. This work is part of a series called Stll Life, inspired and created during the Covid emergency. On the toughest days when we couldn't leave our homes, walks within the gray walls of my garage provided me company and relief. Always observing the same objects, I seemed to see them alive, talking, and I realized that they live around our lives. Like a bridge, which only becomes one when crossed. A door that is never opened is just a wall. And thus began what was to become my most introspective and minimalist series, yet my most intimate and urgent. Urgent questions and answers, as signs of our time. This specific series will be presented at my solo show in Bolzano in January 2023 as part of an event on Korean culture. The artwork "The wall" is part of a private collection. All my works are originals in a single edition.
