For the project „Bivacco“ an old bivouac was transported to Venice, from the Alps. Bivouacs are small emergency high mountain shelters, which always need to be open in order to fulfil their vital function and guarantee access to all those seeking protection in every situation. Being hard to reach is a characteristic feature of their mythological-alpinistic appeal. The bivouac on display is not only closely related to Alpine morphology, but suggests an allegory of a land of transit and exchange, as well as a place to welcome people and cross borders.
As a reference to the historic Alpine-Club-Stickers on the walls of bivouacs, Hannes Egger leaves a sticker with a QR code instead of an emergency number. The code allows visitors to download an audio performance onto their mobile phone. Visitors can thus have a physical experience and be guided through the meanings of the (hi)stories of South Tyrol inside this open-air dwelling.
