This work originates as a kind of observation table in which mark, symbol, and real trace coexist within the same space. The drawing is constructed as a field of analysis: small elements are isolated inside circles, as if they were specimens placed under observation.
Among them appears a real mosquito, killed and directly inserted into the drawing, preserving the minimal trace of its presence, including the mark of blood. Alongside this real element, other mosquitoes are instead reconstructed through graphic marks, creating a subtle ambiguity between document and representation.
Within the composition a recurring form also appears: the idea of a shoe reduced to an essential sign. This symbol too is progressively isolated and observed within the small circles, as if it were itself an object of study.
Crossing the scene is the figure of a snake, digitally inserted. Its presence interrupts the analytical logic of the table and introduces a more instinctive and narrative dimension. The sinuous body moves across the space of the drawing until its forked tongue lightly touches the heel of the shoe in the foreground, creating a moment of contact between human symbol and animal presence.
The drawing was later digitized and printed on Hahnemühle fine art paper with a passe-partout.
Technique: mixed media with organic material from Culicidae Meigen
Edition: 5 prints + original
Support: variable support
