Mirko Sperlonga (Terracina, 1995) is a visual artist and multidisciplinary author. His research has its roots in photography, gradually opening up to writing, diaries, experimentation and the construction of narrative devices in which image and word question each other. For him, the work does not represent a point of arrival, but an instrument of knowledge: a place where experience, memory and imagination continue to redefine themselves. His practice stems from the desire to understand the world inhabiting it. Each project takes shape through long times of observation, research, relationship and listening, leaving it to be the people, places and symbols to progressively suggest its language. The image thus becomes a changing space of crossing, where individual and collective unconscious biography, body and landscape, reality and symbolic dimension coexist without seeking a definitive synthesis, often short-circuiting. Mirko, has combined the unusual academic path with an autonomous research fueled by introspection, self-research and a constant curiosity towards psychology, psychoanalysis, anthropology, philosophy and ecology, understood not as disciplines to be applied to art, but as tools to understand the relationship between living beings and the world. At the same time, he continues to deepen his research through training courses, curatorship and interdisciplinary practices, conceiving study as an integral part of the artistic process. His research often goes through the relationship between image and deep psychology, the role of the symbol and the unconscious in creative processes, the connections between body, biological memory, anthropological roots and landscape, up to reflection on power structures and forms of the relationship between the living. An ecological, anti-species and anti-hierarchic sensitivity crosses his work not as an ideological declaration, but as a consequence of a look oriented towards reciprocity, shared vulnerability and interdependence. His practice develops through artistic and research paths, gradually opening up to curation as a form of listening, dialogue and shared construction of the meaning of the work. It is not rooted in just one place: it crosses territories, cultures and meetings letting itself be guided by listening, in the belief that every movement represents a possibility of transformation as human as artistic. At the center of his research remains a simple and deep tension: to inhabit the present without ceasing to question it, preserving the possibility of being transformed by the encounter with the other, with the landscape and with life itself.
