Sweet Territory uses sugar—a material shaped by the genealogy of colonialism, plantation economies, and transatlantic capital networks—to reconsider the foundations of the urban.
The work reveals a tension between order and precariousness, permanence and decay, sweetness and violence. Structured yet inherently unstable, the material resists the illusion of durability typically associated with built environments.
The installation operates both as a metaphor for the vulnerability of social infrastructures and as a material archive of the exploitation underlying modernity.
