Green eyes, my green eyes over the world. Green like the colour of nature that today, more than ever is being exploited rather than respected.
A motionless stare on society and what is happening around us.
Eyes wide open, but frozen. Plasticized eyes because they reflect the world around us. Wide open eyes, mesmerized by what they are
seeing, but never closed. They face that same reality looking at the spectator who cannot not reflect itself in them as a reaction to the
world in which we are living.
The plastic and plasticizing eye unites therefore denounces and reflects our inner part, as a severe and accusing warning. Plastic invades our lives and the environment, by becoming eye - our organ of contact with the outer world - it symbolically takes the place of nature even in our body. A penetrating look can even become unbearable. The plastic eye symbolizes the indifference in which we risk
falling. But the eye of the artist is always open because it must not only underline a dangerous and critic situation, it must also be a
breath of hope.
Eyes, conscious of what’s happening around them and ready to decrypt reality in order to identify a new attitude that might lead to the saviour of the environment and therefore of humanity itself.
Just as in Alfred Hitchcock’s film “Spellbound” the scenes of the dream with the surrealist scenography with the drooping eyes designed by Salvador Dalì or the eye in “The false mirror” by Magritte.
In all civilizations, eyes have had a divine role, ex-voto, talismanic, magic, sacred, becoming the look, the interface between the outer
world and the inner world of a person.
All Green Eyes pieces are made in plexiglass (pmma polymethyl methacrylate), a material recycled from industries, hand-painted with enamel colours. The eyelashes are made with waste material from the nylon clamps used for Il volo polimerico. Nothing is discharged, everything is recycled.
