In this last series of works, the female figure comes out of the contours of the canvas remaining faceless. The hands appear as a communicative element of self-anchoring, a protective reflex against disorientation. Without concealment, these figures are placed naked and the ribs are often bare, which have become frogs of an imaginary bony livery. In this series I use natural materials, lime, marble dust and linseed oil with the fresco technique on upholstery fabrics. The tones obtained with pigments and natural oxides recall those of Renaissance frescoes that still resist today in Italian churches and noble palaces. Instead of wooden frames, I use trimmings that surround the canvas, echoing the domestic space, an ambiguous place of protection and trauma. It is a path towards abstraction, in search of possible ways to cross the boundaries of the body which is also the image of what animates it. A story of the human figure as a resistant container of contrasting forces: that continuous yearning for freedom and on the contrary for protection.
