Islam and its culture are one of the most discussed themes of our times. I have always been fascinated with this topic. This growing interest made me want to expand my knowledge on the subject. Therefore, I decided to visit Islamic countries, in order to study and understand this extensive and fascinating culture. After travelling to Tunisia, I carried on my research in Morocco. Unfortunately, I was not able to spend a long time in the country, so I focused my attention on its southern regions. With only twelve days to explore, I travelled for almost 2000 km. Along my way I had the opportunity to see and explore the various aspects of this intriguing country. From its hectic cities to its peaceful mosques, to its colourful markets and its silent desert. I rented a car in Marrakech and followed an intense itinerary. However, Morocco’s breath taking landscapes and vibrant towns were not the only amazing memories I brought back with me. I had the great opportunity to meet wonderful people. Thanks to these people I learned so many interesting facts about Islamic culture. A lot of people were glad to tell their stories, many of them came to Europe to work before going back to Morocco, making it easier to communicate. They told me about the difficulties they faced, and many seemed worried about Tourism, as in recent years it dropped tragically. This trip taught me a lot, and further showed me how far Islamic culture can be from its depiction in the media. Meeting people and understanding their point of view, their fears, their struggles helped me to further expand my knowledge on Islamic countries and their inhabitants. I also could not help but notice how the influence of Islamic culture changes from Tunisia to Morocco. Print fine art.
