One Step Closer to the Sky
Copper frame and elastic threads.
2021

A shiny plane takes off.
When rising through the clouds and entering the blue, it is as if he is stripping himself of his body.
It is caught in the precise moment when the tip touches the sky and pierces the clouds. At this moment, the threads begin to thin out.
The representation evokes dynamics by which the more we reach up to high altitudes, the more we feel spoiled in the body, thus projected in a dimension where matter becomes essence.
In this work the idea of lightness is in its embryonic stages, to then be completed in Light Like a Paper Plane; the two works are in fact in close dialogue.
In One Step Closer to the Sky the plane still has its body, is three-dimensional, has mass and occupies space.
Only in Light Light a Paper Plane, he will be able to reach that complete lightness and full detachment from its material body.
One Step Closer to the Sky, guides us to the start of the journey...
