The Scorze series was born during the first lockdown. The sense of claustrophobia and immobility dominated the dwellings and during that frustrating time it was necessary for me to take refuge within safe and comforting forms: trees.
A forest of bare, shrivelled and frozen, yet powerful ramifications reach upwards, growing more and more bare in search of light, of a way of escape.
They entangle these woody surfaces of nervous and patient signs, merging with the wooden support that lives and reactivates through them.
Thus I drew from my archive of photographs taken of bare trees and their bark, the representation of an imaginary forest.
The intricate stretching and connecting of the plants develops in a kind of continuous, perpetual and unstoppable flow, in which the skin of the tree always remains preponderant and evident.
