'Shipwrecked of this time' leads the spectator on a timeless journey, a journey across the sea. The work carries the boulder of one of the most treated iconologies, the stories of storm, drought, loneliness, hope, life and death.
The sea becomes an existential metaphor of contemporaneity, of a time in which the pervading sensation is that of being in an immense storm from which the horizon cannot be captured. The boat sways, water is everywhere, stability is lacking and suddenly you may find yourself submerged, at the mercy of something uncontrollable.
A change of course is yearned. As the water takes possession of space, it is necessary to become water and re-think, re-appropriate and re-inhabit a new space.
Naufraghi di questo tempo is a suspended sculpture, sinuous and massive, a symbol of the unfathomable greatness of an element beyond our understanding.
